Medina County, Ohio is located in the northeastern part of the state and is part of the Cleveland-Akron-Canton metropolitan area. The county was established in 1812 and was named after the city of Medina, which was named after the city of Medina in Saudi Arabia. The first settlers in Medina County were mostly of German and English descent. The first permanent settlement was established in 1816 in the city of Medina. The county was officially organized in 1818 and the first county seat was established in the city of Medina. The county experienced rapid growth in the 19th century due to the construction of the Ohio and Erie Canal, which connected the Great Lakes to the Ohio River. The canal brought increased trade and commerce to the area, and the population of Medina County grew from just over 1,000 in 1820 to over 10,000 by 1860. The county was also home to several important industries in the 19th century, including the Medina Iron Works, which produced iron products for the canal and other industries. The county also had several mills, including the Medina Flour Mill, which was the largest flour mill in the state at the time. In the 20th century, Medina County continued to experience growth and development. The county was home to several important industries, including the Medina Manufacturing Company, which produced auto parts, and the Medina Glass Company, which produced glass products. The county also experienced a population boom in the 1950s and 1960s, as many people moved to the area from other parts of the state and the country. The population of Medina County grew from just over 20,000 in 1950 to over 60,000 by 1970. Today, Medina County is home to over 70,000 people and is a thriving community with a strong economy. The county is home to several major employers, including the Cleveland Clinic, Summa Health System, and the University of Akron. The county is also home to several parks and recreational areas, including the Medina County Park District and the Medina County Metroparks.

The Medina Municipal Valor Court is presided over by Judge Gary F. Werner and was officially certified by the Supreme Court of Ohio on 12/16/21. The Valor Court exists in recognition of the fact that many of our veterans return to civilian life burdened by serious trauma, both physical and mental.
